Early Intervention

Hi, my name is Mariana

After being abandoned at birth, I lived for many months in a hospital in Bucharest. Every day, RCR/Inocenti staff would take me from my crib and bring me to the RCR Child Life Playrooms with RCR’s staff and volunteers. They taught me to walk and talk and love them. One of the staff even volunteered to stay with me in another hospital so I could have a much needed surgery on my face. Now I live happily with my adoptive family.

Early Intervention

This program of intensive physical and psychological therapy serves 54 children aged 0-3 years old. The therapy is designed to increase psycho-motor development in young handicapped children so they can develop to their fullest potential in mainstream schools and society. The program also trains and supports the parents of handicapped children to prevent child abandonment. A team of three professionals provides assessments, counseling, and more than 800 hours of direct therapy for handicapped children.

All the children in the program are included in early literature activities carried out with volunteers from the community.
